cane technique and choreography -  hanover

 

WHERE: richard black community center (also known as the hanover rec center or senior center)

TIME: 7:00-8:15 P.M. (75 minutes, includes cane and music cut)

day: Mondays, april 4 - june 13 (8 weeks, 75 minute classes, no class april11 and memorial day)

 

DESCRIPTION:  This class will first teach students the basics of dancing with a cane, women's style.  After learning the fundamentals, students will learn a full choreography to a song called Ala Nar (I'm On Fire). Cane dance, or Raks Assaya as it is known in Arabic, is an Egyptian style of dance with roots in southern Egypt.  This is a bouncy and rhythmic dance that combines traditional movement with the manipulation of the cane, considered to be a basic prop in Egyptian dance.  All classes will include floor exercises for core strength.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  All Level 2 classes require instructor permission (by email) even if you have registered in Level 2 classes in the past.  This class requires a minimum of 12 students.

COST: $165.00 (includes cane and in advance by check.  Please mail check by March 15 to: Gina Capossela, 2090 Moore Road, South Royalton, VT 05068.  Please note that we cannot offer refunds, discounts for missed classes (although we encourage make-ups at other locations), transfers of registration/credit to other students, or refunds due to weather rescheduling.
